Chords

Overview

The Chords component is a MIDI effect that turns single MIDI notes into chords. It has per-chord 16-step sequencer and can also be used as a classic type of arpeggiator.

Mode

In Fixed mode, the trigger keys on the left is used to play the chord on the right. In the picture below, C1 will play the first chord and C#1 will play the second chord. All other MIDI keys will have no effect.

In Transp mode, the trigger keys is used to activate a chord (not play it), whilst the rest of the keyboard is then is used to actually play the chord. In this mode, the chord will transpose up/down according to the root key you play on the MIDI keyboard.

In the picture below, C1 will activate the first chord and C#1 will activate the second chord. All other MIDI keys will play the active chord.

Trigger key

In Fixed mode, a trigger key will play a chord. In Transp mode it will activates a chord.

Sequencer

Each chord has a built-in 16-step note-on-off/velocity sequencer. Click the chords menu-button (to the left of the trigger key) and select Sequencer. This will activate the chord sequencer and show it just below the chord. The Sequencer can be switched on/off individually for each chord.

Now, use the left mouse button to insert note-on-off/velocity events. The position of the events is (of course) the time it will play, the length of the events are the duration and the height is the velocity. You can click and drag events to change their lengths. Finally, to set the Length of the sequence (loop point), click the left mouse button with Shift pressed.

Arp

When the sequencer is active, you may also have it play like an arpeggiator. When set to Off, all notes in the chords is played simultaneously, otherwise it will play the notes in a chord one by one like a classic arp.
