| The Mixer Overview The mixer is a 16 stereo input channels, 15 stereo sends per input channel and one stereo master out channel. Volume, pan and send levels can be automated by midi cc in real-time. Adding a mixer channel The mixer has one input channel to start with, adding more channels can be done by clicking on the Edit menu and then selecting "New channel". There can be up to 16 input channels per mixer comp. Removing a mixer channel Unused mixer channels can be removed by selecting Delete channel from the Edit menu. Removing unused channels may save some cpu cycles. Adding a send To add a new send to the input channels, select "New send" from the Edit menu. Each new send will be numbered from 1 and up to 15 in the mixer. Routing a send to a VST effect
Right-click the mixer icon in the main window, then select a VST effect from one of the send sub-menus. The picture above shows that send 1 is routed to Freeverb. Each channel has a 0-100% send level control per send, so that a snare drum on channel 1 can have 10% reverb, while the hi-hats on channel 2 can have 40% reverb. Send on/off Each channel has an on/off switch on each send. Switching off sends on channels using 0% send level will save some cpu cycles. The picture below shows that the send on input channel 3 is switched off.
Clicking on the send number, will toggle the send on/off Pre fader on/off Optionally, the send level can be unaffected by the volume fader. To do this, click the Pre button on the send. By setting a send to Pre fader, and setting the volume to 0, you will only hear the effect part of the signal. Automation the mixer controls To setup automation, select CC Map from the Edit menu to open the CC Map window.
As you can automate volume, pan and send levels, the window has one cc box per control on each channel. All you have to do is set the cc number and, of course, send some cc data to it. You need route a midi cable to the mixer to get this to work. The controls will update in real-time as they are being automated. |
