MIDI and Audio routing

Overview

As energyXT is modular, it requires patching of MIDI and Audio cables between it's components. Without them, there will be no sound.

The MIDI in comp receives MIDI events from the sequencer (host). The Master out comp sends audio data back to your sequencer.

MIDI and Audio cables in energyXT is automatically merged. Both input and output. Theres nothing stopping you from having 4 arpeggiators connected the same VSTi, or patch the Audio out of a single VSTi to 4 different VST effects.

MIDI

To patch the MIDI output of an arpeggiator to a VSTi, just right-click the arp component, select MIDI out and then the VSTi you want the aro to be connected to. The picture below shows that the MIDI output of the arp being connectied to CyberPRO.

Note that the same arp can be patched to any number of VSTi's. Now, to disconnect the MIDI connection from the arp to CyberPRO, jsut right-click the CyberPRO comp, select Disconnect MIDI and then select Arp from the menu.

Audio

Audio patching is the same as with MIDI, just right click the source comp and then select the destination comp from the Audio out menu. Note that some VSTi's may have multiple audio outs available, and will have an Audio out menu for each output channel.

To disconnect an audio connection, just right-click the destination comp, and select the source comp from the Disconnect Audio menu.

As some VST instruments and effects have 2 mono outs instead of 1 stereo out, you have the option to override the default audio channel configuration. To do this, right-click the component and select Audio channels from the popup menu.

To convert 2 mono channels to a single stereo channel, just click the Link button.
